The body absorbs trace amounts of toxins from food and water, air pollution, drugs, and stress. Unless, of course, you live on a remote island away from industrial factories and stressors that can eat ripe papaya directly from the tree. In this case, everything is ready. For the rest of us, especially those living in large cities, it is worth considering that we regularly remove toxins and impurities from our bodies. Regular homemade detox drink made with natural ingredients is not only healthy but also enjoyable.

Here is a few ‘do-it-yourself’ detox drink recipe to help you get started:

Liver

The liver plays a key role in many important processes within our body. The liver filters the blood neutralizes toxins and harmful chemicals, synthesize hormones, and converts food into energy. It also aids in the proper functioning of digestion and the immune system.

An easy-to-cook cleansing smoothie for a healthy liver:

  • 1 middle-sized beetroot
  • 1 small tangerine
  • Half an apple
  • 3-4 fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 glass of water

All you have to do is mix all the ingredients.

Known for its multiple benefits and cleansing qualities, beetroot has the power to reduce inflammation of any kind. As well as it is considered the number one food for a healthy liver.  But if you’re not a fan, you can always mix it up a little by adding other superfoods that are also good for the liver: carrot, cabbage, citrus fruit, garlic, olive oil, sesame seeds, asparagus, broccoli, berries, celery, green tea, spinach, artichoke.


Lungs

Oxygen uses the lungs as the bloodstream and then as a passageway to all organs. In short, this is how we live and breathe. Therefore, it is very important to keep the lungs clean and tidy. Unfortunately these days, even non-smokers don’t get lung health vouchers. Like any other organ, the lungs respond to stress and absorb toxins from the outside world.

That’s why lungs cleansing is essential, and there is one way to do it:

  • Add freshly squeezed grapefruit or orange juice to breakfast
  • Drink a smoothie made of mixed carrots, celery, spinach, parsley, and kelp with lunch
  • A detox tea: rose hips, ginger, mint will be terrific before dinner
  • Last but not least: enjoy a glass of pressed pure cranberry juice before going to bed

Repeat this combination for 3 days straight.

Other ingredients which are also great for the lungs: carrots, rose hips, onion, garlic, beetroot, broccoli, olive oil, hawthorn, kelp, leafy green vegetables, pineapple, and oregano.


Kidney

The two cute bean-shaped bodies might not be that big, as they look small and ridiculous. But, of course, with their zeal, they have certainly established themselves alongside other important institutions. They work 24 hours a day to filter toxins from the blood and protect against infection.

To repay the favor and prevent kidney stones try this healthy and delicious smoothie:

  • A cupful of cranberries
  • 1 celery stalk
  • An apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 cucumber
  • A handful of spinach

Blend the ingredients and drink up!

Other superfoods to boost your kidney health: radish, carrot, garlic, parsley, lemon, cauliflower, blueberries, chia seeds, asparagus.


Colon

The colon is the best outlet for toxins that we accumulate throughout the day. With its help, they are permanently removed from the body. If the colon is not taken care of, toxins can stick to the inside and become chronic, causing bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and gas.

To function like clockwork our colon needs hydration and plenty of nutrients. And this smoothie has the whole package:

  • 1 tbsp. of ground flaxseed
  • Half a ripe pineapple
  • A cup of water
  • 1 cucumber
  • An apple
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1 celery stalk

Stir the ingredients and enjoy!

Also great for the colon: cucumber, pineapple, celery, grapefruit, lemon, watermelon, spinach, papaya, grapes, strawberry, mango, almond, kiwi, and quinoa.

It is not necessary to radically change your diet during the cleansing period. However, to enhance the cleaning effect, it is better to avoid foods that cause inflammation, such as fried foods, oily foods, and sweet foods. You should also be prepared for the fact that you will lose weight during the cleansing period. Frozen food is acceptable, but use fresh ingredients whenever possible.
Choose your favorite fruits and vegetables, berries, and herbs from the list above and balance the sweet and sour to find the perfect combination. Whatever combination you decide to try, you’ll still have a delicious way to keep your key organs and your whole body looking good and healthy.

Other Drinks:

Mulethi Tea: Also known as licorice, multi tea is known to treat many winter-related diseases, such as cold and cough which is homemade. Other than this, it is ideal to give your lungs a good cleanse. It is a must-have during days when you feel a little feverish due to the cold winter breeze. Regular consumption of Mulethi tea is also likely to lower the risk of suffering from heart diseases, as it contains elements that may remove deposited grease in the arteries. 

Lemon, Ginger, And Peppermint Tea: Winter morning is supposed to begin with something powerful and refreshing. The lemon, ginger, and peppermint tea are exactly what we are talking about which can be homemade. The lemon will freshen up your mind, ginger will give you energy and peppermint will relax your throat. All of these are known to be great detoxifying agents, as they are loaded with antioxidants. Besides benefitting your lungs, the tea is also amazing for your digestive system. 

Turmeric Ginger Drink: Turmeric is one of the most wholesome elements in the kitchen. Regarded as an ideal superfood, turmeric is packed with curcumin, which is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cancerous, and anti-toxic. Mixing turmeric along with ginger will give you a perfect boost during winters by removing harmful toxins from the body while protecting the organs from further air pollution damage. 

Honey And Warm Water: Warm water on its own is very effective in detoxifying your body. The honey warm water drink is especially great to help your lungs to fight pollutants. This is because honey has anti-inflammatory properties, which are effective in reducing inflammation. 

Apple, Carrot & Beetroot Smoothie: Fruits and veggies are a great source of nutrients to keep the body and mind healthy. A yummy smoothie of apple, carrot, and beetroot is one of the best winter detox drinks for it is extremely fibrous and is packed with Vitamin C and many other compounds effective in controlling and preventing asthma. It is most importantly good to cleanse your respiratory system, therefore, one should include this winter detox drink in the daily diet.
